The route matters more than the distance
The shortest path to food can trap you. Before turning, check where the tail is and which space will become free. As you grow, a wide route around the board often leaves more room than repeatedly crossing the center.
One turn at a time
Use arrows, WASD or touch buttons. You cannot reverse directly into your neck: choose a perpendicular direction first. Frantic input will not create space. Keep a rhythm and prepare the next turn.
Learn from a short round
After losing, identify whether you hit a wall or your own body. Practice a few rounds focused on keeping an exit open rather than chasing a score. Restarting preserves your browser's best result, not the previous round's path.
