Tetris: build a flat base and avoid covered holes

Read the surface, not just the piece

A reasonably flat surface leaves more options for the next piece. A hole covered by blocks requires clearing the rows above before you can fill it. Compare placements by counting new holes and the height difference between neighboring columns.

Leave room without becoming obsessed

A side well can hold a long piece and clear several rows. Do not preserve it at any cost: when the stack approaches the top, clearing one or two rows may be more useful than waiting for a particular piece.

Two ways to drop

Down moves a piece one step; Space places it at the lowest valid position immediately. Hard drop only after checking the orientation and column. Up rotates and P pauses. On touch screens, Rotate and Drop perform those actions.

What changes with the level

In this version, the level increases every ten lines and automatic falling speeds up. Pieces cannot pass through blocks or leave the board. If a new piece cannot fit at spawn, the round ends. Practice clean placement before focusing on speed.
